If you're visiting Puerto Rico and you arrived by airplane you probably arrived at Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport. Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport is a joint civil-military airport located in the town of Carolina, Puerto Rico. According to official records Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport is located 3 miles to the east of San Juan, but that's because they are basing their calculations on the municipal city limits of each town. Actually, if you stay in a hotel in the Condado hotel district the drive will be about 7 miles and if you stay in Old San Juan it will be about 10. Either way, the airport is right next to the Island's mayor landmarks and attractions. Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport is the Puerto Rico's main international gateway and one its only two connections to the United States. It is owned by the Puerto Rico Port Authority and operated by Aerostar Public Holdings. In 2012 a total of 8,448,172 passengers went through Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport.
